SMS-Activate review — coming soon
Our long-form review of SMS-Activate — the long-running one-shot SMS verification service — is in testing. This page previews what the published review will cover. It is intentionally noindex so it doesn't compete with the eventual review in search results.
Why we're reviewing SMS-Activate
SMS-Activate is the default comparison point for any SMS-verification service. We're benchmarking it against the Crypton.sh SMS Verification service so readers can see how the flat-rate, no-account flow compares to the pre-funded balance model SMS-Activate has used for years.
What we'll test
- Account / no-account flow — what information signup actually requires.
- Number of supported services as claimed vs as available in practice.
- Receive rate (success / fail) across a 50-request sample for five popular target services.
- Per-code pricing across the same target services.
- Refund behaviour on failed verifications.
- Session window length and any silent expiry edge cases.
- Crypto payment support — actual options, surcharges, settlement time.
- Carrier range provenance — are these on real mobile ranges or filtered virtual ranges?
- Support response time and tone on a deliberately ambiguous ticket.
